Stadi za Kiswahili ni mfululizo wa vitabu vya kiada vya Kiswahili vilivyoandaliwa kwa kufuata Mtaala wa Umilisi. Kitabu hiki kina sifa kuu zifuatazo:
• Kimeandikwa kwa Kiswahili cha kiwango cha mwanafunzi wa Gredi ya 5.
• Maswali dadisi yametumiwa kutanguliza dhana zilizomo.
• Kimejumuisha shughuli za mwanafunzi binafsi, shughuli za wanafunzi wawiliwawili na za makundi ya wanafunzi.
• Kimeshughulikia masuala makuu yote kwa mujibu wa ruwaza ya Kiswahili cha Gredi ya 5
• Kimejumuisha mada kuu na mada ndogo zote.
• Yaliyomo yamepangwa kulingana na ruwaza ya Kiswahili cha Gredi ya 5.
• Yaliyomo yamewasilishwa kwa ubunifu wa kiwango cha juu.
• Kimeshughulikia matokea maalum yanayotarajiwa katika Gredi ya 5.
• Kimejumuisha umilisi wa kimsingi kwa mujibu wa Mtaala wa Umilisi.

Kwa mintarafu ya mtaala mpya uegemedo umilisi uliozinduliwa na Taasisi ya Ukuzgji Mitaala ya Kenya (KICD) mnamo Septemba 2017 na uliotumiwa kukiandaa kitabu hiki, mwalimu ni mwezeshaji wa mchakato wa ufundishgji na ujifunzaji. Mwongozo huu umetayarishwa kwa kutilia maanani ukweli huu.
Mwalimu amependekezewa jinsi ya kuandaa masomo, mbinu, zana na vifaa, utaratibu wa ufundishaji na jinsi ya kupima kiwango cha umilisi wa mwanafunzi baada ya kila kipindi. Aidha, Mwalimu amependekezewa jinsi ya kusimamia shughuli za mwanafunzi binafsi, za wanafunzi wawiliwawili na hata za makundi ya wanafunzi. Aidha, majibu ya mazoezi yaliyomo katika Kitabu cha Mwanafunzi yametolewa katika mwongozo huu.Katika kila kipindi, mwalimu amependekezewa jinsi ya kuhusisha stadi nne kuu za lugha: kusikiliza, kuzungumza, kusoma na kuandika. Si hayo tu, ameelekezwa jinsi ya kuoanisha mada mbalimbali na umilisi wa kimsingi, masuala mtambuko, maadili, uhusiano wa mada mbalimbali na masomo mengine miongoni mwa masuala mengine yanayofumbatwa na mtaala mpya uegemedo umilisi.
Azma ya mwongozo huu ni kumchochea mwalimu kuwa mbunifu katika kuendeleza vipindi vya Kiswahili. Hivyo, ataweza kumtayarisha mwanafunzi wa Gredi ya 3 kutumia Kiswahili sanifu katika mazingira mbatimbali kwa kujithamini na kujiamini.
