Some short description

by Jared Angira
Lament of the silent and Other Poems is Angiras latest and arguably his most inspiring collection of poetry. It unveils human emotions and illusions in a style that can only be described as ‘Angiran’. In the poem, ‘From the Conveyor Belt’,
he says:
Love never used to lie
Till they floated it
At the stock exchange
Where it assembled
Arsenals of lies
This is Angira addressing salient issues in society, and capturing them in a manner so vivid that the impression created in one’s mind is indelible.
Jared Angira’s literary career goes way back to the 1960s when he started publishing poetry in magazines. Since then, his poetry has been published in six different volumes. Angira was born in 1947 in Kenya. He studied at the University of Nairobi and proceeded to do postgraduate studies at the London School of Economics in the United Kingdom. Angira worked for the Kenya Ports Authority in Mombasa and the Agricultural Finance Corporation in Nairobi. He later set up his own consultancy firm — Menta Consultants Ltd. Angira is also the Chairman of Kenya Organisation of Writers Association (KOWA).
